Call for applications – Summer Media Studio 2019: Actor in Film

From 23rd of June to 5th of July, 2019 students from different EU film and media higher schools and independent young professionals will meet at „Summer Media studio” for the 21st time. Every year we select a different topic to focus on the workshop. The main topic for this year is „Actor In Film”. The participants will focus on director-actor collaboration on film set, the influence which actor’s presence is able to make on set, analyze different techniques of teamwork. The workshop is divided in two parts – theoretical, where participants attend theoretical seminars, and practical, where participants shoot their short film.

 

SMS is an annual workshop for film students and early graduates. This year SMS is will take place in Lithuania in the mid-June to beginning of July. With the assistance of professional trainers and consultants, international shooting crews improve their scriptwriting, directing, cinematographic, editing, sound designing, producing and presentation skills through all the stages of filmmaking: preparation, script development, shooting, editing and postproduction.

 

SMS focuses on the most essential and relevant subjects of films, searching for new important topics, which would explore theoretical and practical knowledge of young Audiovisual arts students in the field of the professional cinematography. It is an intensive two-week workshop, which includes theoretical part with lectures given by experienced lecturers and a practical part: filming in international crews. The events will be lead by the industry professionals – actor Zachary Spicer (US) director, scriptwriter Jonathan Tammusz (UK) and director Marija Kavtaradzė (LT).

 

The workshop provides students with an opportunity to improve their professional and Personal skills, expand their vision and point of view, learn new ways of making films and Uncovers new talents.

Workshop activities are divided into three periods:

-4 days of intensive seminars and lectures (pitching sessions, lectures, consultations);

‐4 days focusing on practical work (shootings);

-4 days of final review (editing, postproduction, screening and evaluation);

 

The workshop will take place in Neringa which is one of the most beautiful resort areas at the Baltic seaside. It is an exceptional place of recreation with unique nature and specific culture, which inspired and continues to inspire artists throughout the world. Curonian Spit is on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a site of cultural landscapes that has many natural and cultural values. SMS participants will shoot their short films in Neringa region.

 

The registration to SMS is open until 10th of May.

The participation fee for „Summer Media Studio 2019“ is 360 EUR, including tuition, accommodation, local travel and meals.
