Open call – Dance Artists

#UNFINISHED23 is currently seeking dance artists to participate in the dance performance of NINGUÉMMESOLTA (Don’t lose me) by Brazilian artist Rafaela Sahyoun. The performance will be part of the eighth edition of UNFINISHED Festival, which will take place in Bucharest from the 22nd to the 24th of September 2023.

NINGUÉMMESOLTA (Don’t Lose Me) sets the ground for the interplay of multiple bodies pulsing together, charging, and resonating their energetic field within a modulatory relational system. Shaped by consent and the ever-evolving instances of decision-making, performers co-create strategies to coexist, support, impulse, and absorb impacts— an ongoing negotiation of desires and agreement update. This is a living, poetic-political sensorimotor work where no one abandons the call for pulsation and vitality, reverbing energy into the collective kinesthetic mass, revealing the phenomenon of interconnectivity.

We are looking for:

Professional dance artists aged 18+.
Local professional dance artists.
International artists are welcome to apply, however, please note that the festival will not provide housing nor cover travel expenses; international artists should make their own arrangements.
Artists who can demonstrate sensitivity and respect for inter-/intra-cultural exchange, valuing diversity and fostering an inclusive environment.
Artists who want to work collectively, collaborative and using touch.
Curious people who share the UNFINISHED community’s values and want contemporary dance to reach a wider and more diverse audience.

Key Dates:

Application Deadline: 30th of July 2023
Notification of Acceptance: 13th of August 2023
Audition date in Bucharest: Audition date in Bucharest: September 11th, 2023. Candidates should be available and ready to begin working on the following day, September 12th, 2023, if selected.

Working Period:

Rehearsal dates: 12th to 16th and 18th to 22nd of September 2023
Festival dates: 22nd to 24th of September 2023
Candidates should be available for the entire duration of the working period.

We offer:

Performers will receive an one-off artist fee to participate in this project.
Access to the entire UNFINISHED Festival.
Lunch will be provided during rehearsal days.
Lunch and dinner will be provided at UNFINISHED during the festival days.
