Early Bird International Student Film Festival

As the biggest Bulgarian forum dedicated to support the creation of student short films the Quarantine Edition of the Festival is provoking the young filmmakers to think „out of the box”, to use all kind of shooting techniques and means, to stay curious and resourceful behind the closed doors of their homes, to collaborate online.

For more than 15 years one of the Festival’s main goal is to provide the audience an opportunity to meet closely with art and aesthetics of young filmmakers. Especially today we believe it’s important to preserve the different point of view of the young artists and to collect a visual record of what we all are currently experiencing.

Requirements

Film should be filmed during quarantine or inspired by quarantine
The author should be a student
The accepted categories are fiction, documentary or animation
The accepted formats are avi, mov, mpg2 and mpg4 and the size of the file should be suitable for online screening
The duration should be up to 21 minutes
All films should have English subtitles
The film should be with clarified copyrights (especially music copyrights)

Submission

In order to participate in the preliminary selection of Early Bird 2020 you have to fill out the submission form available on our website. Each candidate should provide:

Online link with the film preview with English subtitles (if the dialog is not in English)
Valid password (if needed)
Detailed information about the film and it’s authors

Deadline is July 31, 2020.
There is no entry fee.

The prize fund of the festival is 4400 USD, divided into 11 categories:

Grand Prize Early Bird – original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 1000$.
Best Bulgarian film – original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 500$.
Best Foreign film – original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 500$.
President of the Jury Award – original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 300$.
Best Animation – original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 300$.
Best Documentary -original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 300$.
Best Directing – original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 300$.
Best Screenplay – original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 300$.
Best Cinematography – original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 300$.
Best Editing – original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 300$.
SEECS Award – original sculpture and financing of the next film project – 300$.

The organizers reserve the right to make changes in the deadlines and dates of announcements in the course of the events, if needed.
